Trent University - Durham GTA Trent University is one among the top well-recognized public universities situated in Canada. In 1964, Ontario Premier John Robarts gave his approval for opening a new university in the area, which came to be known as Trent University. Initially, it welcomed about 100 students, which later increased to 250 in the subsequent year. In addition, Robarts revealed that between 1964 and 1966, the government will finance university's expenditures worth $2 million. He also announced that the university will cater to diverse requirements, and hence, offer different programs in the sciences and arts. In 1964, President Symons announced the development of a 3-phase plan for Trent's campus spread over 1460 acres, which was slated for completion over 18 years.

With its two main campuses, the university offers a transformational experience to the students. Trent University Durham GTA, which is located in Oshawa, offers different professional programs in social sciences and arts, apart from offering hands-on-experiences to its students. The Peterborough (Symons) campus is located on the banks of Otonabee River and boasts of stunning architecture coupled with the breathtaking surroundings. Spread over approximately 1400 acres, this campus is nearly one-and-half hour away from downtown Toronto. Featuring over 100 clubs and groups, Trent University has nearly 20 graduate and 60 undergraduate and professional programs to its students.

The university offers certificate, degree, diploma and specialization in different fields like accounting, African studies, anthropology, arts and science, archaeology and biology. It offers thesis-based and course-based master's programs, apart from PhD and graduate diplomas. The university also offers specializations in interdisciplinary areas like ageing studies and feminist and gender studies. Trent supports international students by providing facilities in terms of academics, finances, housing and health insurance. It also hosts different workshops to advise and offer guidance to these students. Having nearly 2000 employees, Trent offers different career opportunities in diverse fields too, be it part-time, full-time or non-academic.
