In the 2-semester Carpentry and Renovation Techniques program students will be trained in carpentry/framing techniques, hand and power tool usage, blueprint reading, electricity basics, plumbing basics, welding, computer drafting and applied construction mathematics. The focus is on carpentry, as well as on trade-related health and safety measures. You will also learn about the regulations required to work in construction.
The ability to practice professional conduct on-site, and communicate and work effectively in a team environment will be key to student's success. They will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate these skills throughout the program.
After successfully completing semester two, students will have earned the Carpentry and Renovation Techniques Ontario College Certificate and have an opportunity to test for level one for the General Carpentry Apprenticeship.
