Program Description Are you looking to become a leader in the residential construction and renovation industry? The Carpentry and Renovation Technician program will provide you with the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to achieve your goals.
In your first year of study you will develop a foundation of knowledge and hands-on skills with respect to tools, blueprint reading, layout, materials, methods and construction practices for residential construction projects. In the second year, you will take your technical knowledge and skills to the next level with the study of advanced tool use, exterior and interior finishing, as well as an introduction to plumbing, electrical and HVAC. You will also build your leadership and management skills through the study and application of quantity surveying, estimating, small business operation, scheduling, and property development. Prepare yourself for endless opportunity in the dynamic field of residential construction and renovation as a Carpentry and Renovation Technician.
This two year program has two co-operative education work terms. Students can choose to participate in a four-month paid co-op term from May to August between years one and two of academic study. The second four-month work term will take place from May to August following the completion of the second year of academic study. Students who fulfill both the academic and co-op requirements of the program will be eligible to graduate with a co-op endorsed diploma
