Program Description As the only one of its kind in Ontario, the Law Clerk Advanced program will help you gain experience in criminal, corporate and real estate law and prepare you for a rewarding and successful career. One of only five programs accredited by the Institution of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO), this program ensures educational standards are ILCO compliant. Whether you want to be a law clerk in a law office, a corporate legal department or as part of the government, you’ll have the skills needed for a successful career. As Ontario’s only Law Clerk Advanced program, this program will provide you with extensive training in the theory and practise of law as well as extensive field placement opportunities and advanced job search strategies to give you the edge to launch an exciting legal career. Legal course highlights: Career focused, on-campus networking event with employers who are actively recruiting graduating students Specialized areas of law including criminal, municipal land planning, insurance, employment, immigration and intellectual property law Traditional areas of law including corporate, family, litigation, wills, estates and real estate You will be exposed to the laws and procedures that help us navigate each area of law while participating in experiential learning opportunities in class and in the workplace. ILCO program approval indicates that the program meets the educational criteria for various levels of membership to ILCO. This program approval is a tremendous benefit as it eliminates the need for graduates to take the standardized ILCO courses and examinations allowing them to apply for direct membership. Students registered in the final year of the Law Clerk Advanced program automatically receive a student membership.
