Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology opened its doors in 1967. It offers both full-time and part-time diploma, graduate, baccalaureate, and certificate-level programmes. Seneca College has 4 main campuses and many more campuses spread throughout Peterborough and the Greater Toronto Area. The Newnham Campus of Seneca is one of the largest in Canada. It houses 11,000 plus full-time students who learn engineering, fashion, liberal arts, and opticianry. This campus was initially known as the Finch campus and was later renamed after the founding president William T. Newnham. The York campus is situated on York Unversity's Keele campus. This campus has the Schools of Media, English and Liberal Studies, Creative Arts and Animation, Information and Communications Technology, and Creative Arts and Animation.

The King Campus is one of the campuses with scenic beauty, with woods, fields, and lakes. The Markham Campus was the first institution to provide post-secondary education in the city of Markham in Ontario. The Jane Campus houses the Center for Advanced Technologies of Seneca. The Peterborough campus teaches Aviation at the Peterborough Airport. There are around 3 community campuses that provide education that is directed and meant to serve the particular community. The community campuses are the Newmarket Campus, Vaughan Campus, and the Yorkgate Campus.

The Applied Arts and Health Sciences offers Community Services, English and Liberal Studies, Public Safety and Police Studies, Underwater Skills, Animal Health, Early Childhood Education, and Recreational Centers. The Applied Science and Engineering Technology houses the Agilent Technologies Institute, Center for the Built Environment, English and Liberal Studies, and Fire Protection. The Business department has the Business Management, Center for Human Resources, International Business, Tourism, Fintech, and English and Liberal Studies. The International department houses the English Language Institute and the Liberal Arts department has the Liberal Arts Programs.

The Communication, Art, and Design department houses the courses for the Creative Arts and Animation, English and Liberal Studies, Fashion, and Media. The department of Part-time Studies has courses for Business, Creative, Environment, Language, Community, Education, Humanities, and Technology. The department of Training and Employment Services provides training for Business Office Skills, Career Change, Employment Training and Business Services, Services for Skilled Immigrants, and College Preparation for adults.
