Course Description

Program Description Students in a combined degrees program work on two complimentary university degrees simultaneously. A combined degree is generally a 50-course program during which students complete the requirements for both degrees at the same time. When the student graduates, they will be awarded two bachelor degrees, one for each area of study. The bonus is that you complete a combined degrees program in less time than it would take to complete both degrees individually. Bachelor of Education - Native Education Students in the Native American Studies program will study how the Native perspective relates to disciplines involving art, law, philosophy, politics, history, gender studies, ecology, business, customs, and language. All of the classes in Native American Studies are taught from the Native viewpoint — this makes our program one of the most sought after programs in Canada. As an Education major a student develops a strong knowledge base in the subject area they intend to teach. Bachelor of Arts - Native American Studies Indigenous Studies explores art, law, philosophy, health, politics, history, gender studies, ecology, business, customs and language — all from a unique Indigenous perspective — making this one of the most sought-after programs of its kind in Canada. In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to investigate Indigenous history, heritage and culture, as well as the contemporary issues that face Indigenous communities. As a student of NAS, you’ll have access to Indigenous instructors, who are often nationally or internationally renowned, seasoned professionals with real-world experience.
