Program Description Students in a combined degrees program work on two complimentary university degrees simultaneously. A combined degree is generally a 50-course program during which students complete the requirements for both degrees at the same time. When the student graduates, they will be awarded two bachelor degrees, one for each area of study. The bonus is that you complete a combined degrees program in less time than it would take to complete both degrees individually. Bachelor of Arts - General Major Humanities
A General Major in Humanities, unlike a single discipline major, allows you to customize your course selection to your interests and abilities. Where you compromise depth of focus in one area, you gain breadth of knowledge in a few key areas, thus increasing your flexibility. This multidisciplinary approach provides access to the "big picture" or the wider context of any subject area. Conversely, the courses you choose can enhance your focus and provide a cross-discipline perspective on one particular theme.
Bachelor of Education - Social Studies Education
As an Education major, a student develops a strong knowledge base in the subject area they intend to teach. They also receive in-depth preparation in how to teach, including both general and subject area instructional methods.
A General Major in the Social Sciences, unlike a single discipline major, allows you to customize your course selection to your interests and abilities. Students in this program will focus on three streams; in addition to the majors listed above, students can also choose from Kinesiology, Native American Studies, and Women & Gender Studies.
