Program Description Acquire the industry-specific skills you need to launch an electromechanical engineering career. Hands-on experience Sheridan provides outstanding hands-on laboratory opportunities, where you'll work directly with automated systems and cutting-edge mechatronic applications – the same technology used in the electromechanical engineering professions. Develop valuable skills En route to your Electromechanical Engineering Technician/Technology diploma or advanced diploma, you'll take courses in subjects such as: Materials, testing and quality standards Robotics and programmable logic controllers (PLC) Plant layout, safety and HVAC Process control and systems integration Career options You can graduate in just two years with an electromechanical engineering technician diploma and go directly into the workforce. The three-year program confers an electromechanical engineering technology credential and includes the opportunity to apply for a paid co-op work placement. Co-op enrolment is limited through a special selection process. Additional information With the Sheridan Electromechanical Engineering Technician/Technology diploma program, students develop highly marketable skills for the technology and manufacturing sectors. You'll also gain working knowledge of current electromechanical engineering software, such as CATIA and the PLC/SCADA design and control packages. Graduates who go into the workforce are qualified to design, install, maintain, operate, supervise and service complex electromechanical systems. Electromechanical engineering technicians and technologists are well suited to find employment in many sectors of industry and commerce. Common industries may include: Energy Food processing and beverage Petrochemical Pharmaceuticals Automotive Aerospace Sheridan's Electromechanical Engineering Technician/Technology program graduates frequently continue their education at the university level, obtaining an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Technology. Graduates have completed all the academic requirements for professional certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
