Program Description Call the shots on the livestock side of Lakeland’s Student-Managed Farm (SMF). That’s not until 2nd year. You’ll start with practical skills and business record basics. This includes:
Managing livestock feed, health and welfare Handling sheep, beef and dairy cattle safely Artificially inseminating cattle Assisting with calving and lambing Keeping agricultural business record Assessing key economics to develop business plans and market livestock Then you’ll put your hands-on training in animal husbandry and livestock business management to work. You’ll connect to the sector of your choice as a member of a SMF team.
End result: you’ll have the leadership and hands-on skills to be effective in the livestock industry.
