Program Description Are you a creative person with big ideas? Do you want to improve the quality of people’s everyday life? As an engineer, you have the ability to create anything you want – from screwdrivers to rockets – using a variety of science and mathematical knowledge.
This full-time, one-year certificate is designed for students interested in completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering at another institution, but are looking for a gradual transition from high school and more one-on-one time with instructors, or are hoping to save a bit of money in tuition fees. The Engineering Foundations program offers the courses for first-year engineering, including chemistry, physics and calculus.
All courses are university transferable. Upon completion of the certificate, you may be eligible for a guaranteed seat in the second year of one of the following programs: SFU or UVic’s engineering degree programs, or UBC's Wood Products Processing degree, an award-winning program that will prepare you for a career in the wood products sector and related fields. The certificate also fulfills several of the required courses for the Engineering and Fabrication Technologies Diploma program, if you prefer to continue your studies at Douglas College.
