Program Description University Arts and Sciences courses and credentials are designed to provide an educational experience that prepares students for work, citizenship, an enriched life as an educated person, and to create a solid foundation for further study. The Certificate in Engineering is an intense undergraduate credential that requires completion of Computer Science, Chemistry, Math, and Physics courses within two full-time semesters. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the Certificate in Engineering qualify for guaranteed admission into a second-year Engineering program at the University of Alberta and the University of Victoria. Second-year placement in particular programs is determined on a competitive basis. Students are responsible for checking the transferability of their NLC coursework to other institutions.
