Program Description This occupation takes a special kind of person who enjoys working under the hood or chassis, doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, and loves restoring the sweet sound of a vehicle running smoothly. Automotive Service Technicians diagnose problems and make repairs. Specifically, they learn a variety of skills dealing with engine testing and repairs, power trains, steering and braking systems, and more. The nine-month Certificate program enables graduates to get employment in the industry they love. The automotive repair field is a rapidly changing one, as vehicles constantly upgrade their electronics, computers and modern accessories. Are you ready for the challenge? This red seal program provides training in adjusting, testing and repairing engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions, electrical systems and air conditioning systems, and do wheel alignments. Some of the duties include: Repair, rebuild and service specific parts Diagnose using testing equipment Dismantle and reassemble damaged parts Prepare scheduled maintenance Interact and advise customers Outcomes Demonstrate safe work practices and personal protection. Diagnose and repair engine systems. Diagnose and repair engine support systems. Diagnose and repair vehicle management systems. Diagnose and repair drive line systems. Diagnose and repair electrical systems and components. Note: This program may not be suitable for applicants who do not have normal color perception.
