Program Description Integral to every aspect of scientific endeavour, mathematics is fundamental to problem solving—whether modelling atmospheric phenomena or managing the complexities of risk in financial markets. Students in the Applied and Industrial Mathematics program learn concepts, principles, qualitative and quantitative methods and innovative problem-solving skills. Working with state-of-the-art algorithms and software, students learn and apply advanced numerical skills. In addition to their specialization, five-year Bachelor of Science and Management (Honours) program graduates also gain a solid foundation in the key functional areas of business and management, including finance, accounting, operations, project management and marketing. There is a wealth of opportunities for science graduates in industry, government, and in areas of applied science. The combination of a science degree and business and management education will give an added advantage to graduates in establishing careers within these practical fields.
