Course Description

Our innovative Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours is Australia’s only pharmacy degree that can be studied online as well as on campus - UNE was the first university in Australia to offer a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours by distance education. Our program addresses the changing role of pharmacists in Australia's increasingly collaborative healthcare environment by offering a practice-based approach to teaching, with an emphasis on patient care, rural health issues and the pharmacist as a member of the primary health care team. The degree integrates scientific rigour and the development of critical thinking skills to produce confident, career ready graduates. Students studying online are required to attend mandatory intensive schools on campus twice a year. In the fourth or final year of the degree you will be required to undertake approximately 200 hours of clinical placements in both community and hospital pharmacies, of which some placements will be outside normal university trimester times. This program has been granted accreditation by the Australian Pharmacy Council and is approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a qualification leading to registration as a pharmacist in Australia.
