Program Description The Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University - Thunder Bay offers a uniquely What does a soup can and a NASA space shuttle have in common? Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is a part of many everyday items and activities and helps us develop some of the latest technologies revolutionizing our world. As a Mechanical Engineering student you will study the planning, designing, construction and maintenance of equipment used in manufacturing, as well as the finished consumer product. You will explore elements of motion, aesthetics, thermodynamics and much more in order to understand how mechanical systems work – from individual parts to large systems – and how to improve functionality. Our Faculty of Engineering offers a unique four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), with an optional co-operative education component. During the first two years of the Mechanical Engineering program, your studies will emphasize: Methods of Production Engineering Principles Methods of Design Safety Issues Communication Your final two years of study will advance your mathematics, engineering sciences and design skills, as well as the application of engineering analytical tools. NOTE: Almost all Lakehead University programs are designed with courses that require successful completion of a a Fall session prerequisite course. As a result, students who choose to begin their academic studies in the Winter session will find the course selection extremely limited and will be restricted to attending on a part-time basis until the following Fall academic session. Most study permits require that the applicant is a full-time student. Because of this, It is recommended that students apply for a September start.
