his BEng Aeronautical Engineering course has been developed to allow students to gain a broad-based knowledge of aeronautical engineering plus the chance to specialise in modern engineering disciplines.
In addition to providing engineering fundamentals, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, mechanics, control, and mathematical modelling and simulation, these disciplines are applied to aircraft throughout the course, starting right from the beginning of Year 1. Examples include aircraft design, aircraft performance, aircraft structures, aircraft aerodynamics and aeroengines. The course has strong emphasis on group work and design throughout. Furthermore, in the final year each student individually undertakes (with academic supervision) a significant project to tackle a challenging engineering problem in an area of current research interest.
