Women and Gender Studies examines the historical and contemporary conditions of women and men in society using feminist theory and research methodologies to explore issues like gender and power.
As a Women and Gender Studies student, you will broaden your knowledge of women's lives, bodies, experiences, labour and scholarship. You'll also explore feminism as an important influence in political and social movements and delve into issues of gender and power relations.
The Department draws on the University's vibrant community of scholars, contemporary research and activism to explore a breadth of social issues. By taking Women and Gender Studies classes, you will develop an in-depth understanding of how current and historical events, ideas and institutions have been structured by gender, ethnicity, race, age, ability, class and sexuality.
