Program Description The Visual Arts and Music combined program is offered as a double major program through the School of Creative Arts. This joint program allows students to learn about and explore topics and ideas from both areas. You, the developing artist, will benefit from excellent working space in our stunning new facility, an invaluable foundation of skills, supportive faculty and the opportunity to explore, share and realize individual creativity and expression. Are you also passionate about making music? This is the place to be. Our faculty will help you develop to your full potential, whatever your musical interests. Our programs provide excellent preparation for careers and graduate studies in performance, music theory or music history and a range of careers in areas related to music. And our exceptional, new facility will inspire you. The Visual Arts program offers in-depth studio practices and art history combined with exhibition opportunities and exposure to the cultural institutions of Windsor and Detroit. Our program includes courses in drawing, painting, print media, photography, sculpture, BioArt, film production and integrated media (digital imaging, sound and video). Individual studio space is available to you during Year 4. The BA in Music is designed for those captivated by music and its role in social and cultural life. This is a flexible program that will allow you to pursue the rigorous, academic study of a wide variety of musical genres with the option of including a hands-on studio experience with classical or contemporary music. This also includes classes for students who wish to pursue advanced, contemporary music making, including popular and electronic music and music technology. You can develop composition and performance skills that reflect the diversity and richness of these practices, challenge yourself to be a creative and reflective musician, and prepare yourself for a career in the rapidly evolving music industry.
