Course Description

Program Description UTP Stage II: Communication, Art and Technology is equivalent to the first year of SFU's Bachelor of Arts degree. The courses provide introduction to three Schools housed within the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, providing the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Double Minor specialization. This program is meant for students with a minimum of a Grade 11 education or equivalent and an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading and Writing and 5.5 in Speaking and Listening or TOEFL overall score of 79 and a minimum of 18 in Reading and Writing, that would like to pursue a post-secondary education at Simon Fraser University. The program begins with an 8-month foundational program, including a mandatory English literacy course, followed by 12 months of a faculty-specialized academic program equivalent to the first year of university at SFU. Admission into the Simon Fraser University is not guaranteed - students must meet progression requirements as well as any program-specific entry requirements highlighted by the the University in order to gain admission. Music at SFU is an interdisciplinary program focused on composition and music technology research. You will work in labs for electroacoustic composition, and produce original compositions that are performed by professional musicians. After school, you could go on to work as a composer, performer or teacher in all musical genres.
