Course Description

Program Description Note: This program is for students who meet the academic requirements for the Master of Professional Accounting (International Student Pathway), but NOT the English requirements. If you have a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5 with band scores of 6 OR a minimum overall TOEFL score of 88 with minimum band scores of 21 in writing and speaking, please apply to the Master of Professional Accounting (International Student Pathway) directly. The Goodman International Master of Accountancy (IMACC) is an innovative answer to both your demands as an international student for a program that provides you with North American accounting knowledge and the demands of a business world that needs accountants who can think critically, communicate effectively and respond to challenges that arise from around the globe. The one-year IMAcc program goes beyond the basic principles of accounting taught in most traditional accounting programs. The focus is to provide you with transformational skills and knowledge and to give you an advantage in your future career both in Canada and overseas. Your success as an IMAcc grad is due to our focus on a strong integrative approach to accounting and a curriculum that smoothly transitions you from international accounting to North American concepts. The adaptation process begins the moment you arrive on campus. Through our Business English Program we make sure that you get a four-week customized course in business reading, writing, listening and speaking. But we also ensure that you adapt socially. In between classes, we’ve scheduled a full four weeks of activities and trips. You’ll visit Niagara Falls and Toronto, explore St. Catharines and settle into your new life. You’ll know your classmates, the Niagara region and feel comfortable and ready to begin your coursework. But the real key to our graduates’ success is our unique and intensive transition term. This is your foundation term, designed to ensure that you are ready for graduate accounting coursework. In addition to traditional accounting, we’ll cover marketing, organizational behavior, finance and business law, all in the context of North American business practices. This integrative and comprehensive approach to accounting lets you explore your interests and achieve your career goals. NOTE: The tuition fee listed here ONLY covers the first year of Professional Masters Preparation program study.
