Program Description Recognized as a program preparing highly competent and caring educators for K-12 schools, TWU’s comprehensive program engages students with extensive practicum experience, rich theoretical grounding and faith informed understandings, inspiring graduates with a vision for compassionate and transformational teaching practice.
Graduates of our five year concurrent (BA/BEd, BSc/BEd) and post degree programs are recommended for BC Professional Certification, issued by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch. This certification allows our highly regarded graduates to teach across Canada and around the globe, enriching the lives of their young learners, and inspiring and equipping them to make a difference in their communities.
Trinity Western’s Post-Degree B.Ed Program is for those who want to teach at the elementary, middle school, or high school levels and who have completed a BA or B.Sc that meets the requirements of the acceptable degree policy for certification in British Columbia.
During Year 1 of the Program (September-April) you usually take eleven education courses such as principles of teaching and learning, teaching exceptional students in your classroom, curriculum planning, and classroom management. You also complete two initial classroom experience practica.
In Year 2 of the Program you implement and extend your knowledge and skills in seminars and classroom practica under the guidance of master teachers as well as professors. These practica normally take place in public schools within a 30 KM radius from the TWU campus. You also take several curriculum and pedagogy courses in relevant subject areas.
