Course Description

Crime, its causes, and how we should deal with it, are never far from the headlines, and expertise in this area is increasingly valued by employers in government and other sectors Students will gain in-depth knowledge about the causes of crime, the criminal justice system and current themes in criminological debates Students will also gain a level of knowledge, which will open up a range of exciting career opportunities Students will learn from industry experts, with a wealth of academic and practical experience, in a globally recognised law school with a vibrant academic community dedicated to understanding some of society’s most challenging issues Students will study a range of taught modules, delivered by research-active staff, and then choose a traditional written dissertation or an empirical research study, allowing them to focus on a specific area of criminology or criminal justice Students will discover how the criminal justice system operates in practice, learn key theories, examine relevant research in criminal justice and criminology, and explore cutting edge themes in criminological debates
