Program Description The combination of the English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) and the Open Learning program provides a flexible option for guaranteed admission to Bachelor of Commerce degrees at the University of Guelph. This pathway saves you time by allowing you to complete four courses toward your degree while you are finishing your advanced English language courses. A few days prior to the start of the program, you will be tested for placement into the appropriate English class level.
How it Works: The following steps are required for the Guaranteed Admission Pathway: Complete the advanced level of the English Language Certificate Program Complete four undergraduate courses with a 70% cumulative average Enter your degree program with four advanced credits toward your degree ELCP Language levels: The duration of each level is seven weeks. The levels are divided as follows:
Levels 1 and 2 - High beginner level Levels 3 and 4 - Low intermediate level Levels 5 and 6 - Intermediate level - most students who have studied English in secondary school enter the program at this level or higher Levels 7 and 8 - High intermediate level Levels 9 and 10 - Advanced level. Completion of both Level 9 and Level 10 meets the English proficiency requirement for entry into undergraduate and graduate degree programs Note: This program is intended only for students who have not studied at a post-secondary institution. Students must achieve an overall average of 80% or higher in levels 7 and 8, or in levels 8 and 9 to be eligible to begin Open Learning degree-credit courses while completing the advanced level of ELCP.
Tuition fee breakdown: $5,000 per semester or $10,000 for 8 months (2 semesters) OpenEd online course tuition fee breakdown: $2,323* per course, minimum 4 courses required (*costs subject to change)
