Program Description Develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as an engineer watchkeeper on board ocean-going vessels. Students will learn to maintain a safe engineering watch and to perform various tasks in relation to shipboard plant and equipment checking, maintenance, repairs and shipboard fabrication and repair operations while ensuring that procedures of operational quality and personal safety are observed. Students will learn to operate alternators, generators and controls systems to supply shipboard electrical power, pumping systems main, auxiliary machinery, steam propulsion plant and associated control systems.
