Program Description From legal procedures and processes to communications and drafting legal documents, the Paralegal Studies program will provide you with a solid foundation to start your career in the legal industry. As a student in the Paralegal Studies program, you will focus on core legal subject areas such as real estate transactions, creditor and debtor law, civil litigation, commercial transactions, corporate procedures and administrative procedural law and can also customize your program to further your studies in such areas as criminal law, family law and estate law. You will also learn about legal ethics, law firm processes and file management, specialized legal software, time management, client relations and interpersonal and team skills to prepare you for employment in a legal setting. This program emphasizes hands-on learning throughout, and the required field placement will put your education into a new context. A new feature of the Paralegal Studies program is that (depending on your selection of courses), you will be eligible for up to 60 credits of university creditable course work that can be applied toward a Bachelor of Commerce at MacEwan.
