Program Description The UNBC/UBC Environmental Engineering Program is an unique, four and a half year joint degree offered collaboratively between the University of Northern British Columbia and the University of British Columbia. The program combines our respective strengths in environmental science and engineering to offer students a flexible, distinctive educational experience perfectly matched with the immediate marketplace need of BC's leading industries. Graduates of the Environmental Engineering program will be in demand for their technical expertise, hands-on problem solving skills, and unparalleled understanding of environmental issues and problems. In their first two years, students develop a foundation in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and environmental science, through study within the College of Science and Management at UNBC. In their third and fourth years, students transfer to UBC where they gain a thorough, hands-on understanding of engineering fundamentals, analysis and design, primarily through courses in Civil Engineering and Chemical and Biological Engineering. Students complete their degree with a final term at UNBC where they focus on practical environmental engineering design problems.
