Program Description Our programs combine traditional mechanical engineering courses with advanced computer design curriculum. Gain a marketable skill set
Graduates of this unique hybrid program have a skill set that's in high demand: the ability to design products, processes and systems, and to communicate sophisticated mechanical engineering concepts and ideas using drawings, reports and presentations, programs, and computer images and symbols.
Real-world problem solving
In this program, you'll learn engineering design, additive manufacturing, facilities layout, CNC machining, jig and fixture design, mould design, F.E.A sustainable design and many other areas of mechanical engineering design.
Co-op opportunities
As a student in the Mechanical Engineering Design and Drafting Technology program, you'll have the chance to apply for a co-op work term, supplementing your education with paid work experience. Enrolment is limited and you'll need to go through a co-op selection process.
Outstanding career preparation
In this program, you'll work in a professional environment that simulates the workplace, while doing project-based assignments based on real-world mechanical engineering tasks. Examples include:
Industrial products and manufacturing systems Energy and power generation Automotive Plant layout Heating, venting and air-conditioning systems Aerospace State-of-the-art education You'll make use of the facilities in the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies (CAMDT) surrounded by talented classmates and led by exceptional professors. You'll have the chance to work on many research and development projects by joining the Sheridan Engineering Association, where you can get involved with ASME, Tetra, Sheridan motorsports and other design competitions.
Additional certification
When you graduate from this program, you'll have completed all the academic requirements for professional certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Additional requirements for certification exist and are established by OACETT.
Sheridan graduates can transfer to a number of universities to obtain a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
