Program Description Ranked #1 in Ontario for knowledge and skills, quality of learning experience, graduate satisfaction and graduation rate, DC’s Electromechanical Engineering Technology (EMTY) program is a blend of electronics design and mechanical technologies, with automation, instrumentation and control systems at its roots. Our highly sought-after graduates acquire the education and skills needed to design and troubleshoot automated systems used in a variety of industries. Students will train and explore in our premier advanced automation facility through an experiential learning path that engages them with real-world controllers, operator touch screens, industrial networks, robotics and more. The EMTY program at Durham College is also part of the industry-leading Fanuc Robotics Certified Education Training program, which provides students with the opportunity to earn the globally recognized Fanuc Robotics Handling Tool Operations and Programming Level-1 Certification directly within their course of study. This three-year program will prepare you for a career in multiple aspects of automation technology, spanning the electrical and mechanical engineering boundaries. It primarily focuses on industrial automation and its associated control systems, programming, design and documentation. Students in this program are the primary users of the world-class Integrated Manufacturing Centre (IMC) and Industrial Programming laboratories which provide our graduates with an edge upon graduation. For a preview of the IMC lab view the 360-degree videos. As part of the industrial world leader Fanuc Robotics Certified Education training program, all graduates from Electromechanical receive Fanuc Robotics' HandlingTool Operations and Programming Level 1 Certification. As a graduate, you will specialize in designing, analyzing, troubleshooting, modifying, maintaining and repairing automated electromechanical equipment, components, systems and subsystems. In addition, you will be able to: Apply communication, documentation, computer applications and teamwork skills to support the engineering activities of an organization Assist with project management Conduct quality assurance functions Manage customer service quality-control Perform purchasing.
