Program Description This Ontario College Graduate Certificate program positions current healthcare, health management, and information technology professionals to lead innovative projects and programs in digital health. Healthcare worldwide is shifting towards a digital health ecosystem. Canadian healthcare organizations, solution providers, and governments are challenged with analyzing, designing, integrating and maintaining information technology to improve quality across the continuum of healthcare. Innovation in today`s healthcare sector requires individuals with knowledge of the complexities of healthcare, management and information technology.
The program complements professionals` current knowledge and skills with additional industry accepted standards and practices needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving interprofessional world of digital health. Students gain theoretical and practical knowledge through online, in-class and simulation activities. Through project-based learning and as members of interprofessional teams, students apply knowledge of digital health. Student knowledge is broadened through exposure to one of three broad information technology contexts in healthcare: First Nations and Inuit, rural, and remote settings; hospitals and other large healthcare organizations; and community-based healthcare and consumer health. In addition, applied research opportunities exist for students to access research and development experiences in partnership with companies innovating in digital health. Students apply analytic and leadership skills in a hands-on, technology and research rich learning environment throughout the program. Students graduate with an advanced understanding of how to succeed in assessing, managing and implementing projects in today`s dynamic healthcare system.
The program targets working professionals with a range of experience in healthcare, health management, and information technology looking to move careers into digital health or broaden existing knowledge in this area. Although challenging, the mode of delivery and schedule are designed to accommodate students interested in completing the program requirements while maintaining full-time employment.
