Course Description

Program Description Lakehead University is known as one of the leading institutions for Northern Studies in Canada. Our unique, interdisciplinary program will have you explore Northern peoples, issues and environments of Canada's provinces and territories, and other circumpolar regions. Topics you will study incorporate a range of disciplines, including: Anthropology Biology Economics Environmental Studies Indigenous Learning Political Science Sociology In addition to in-class learning, you will have the opportunity to participate in the North2North student mobility program, allowing you to spend a 4-8 month term studying abroad at a University of the Arctic partner institution in a country such as Finland or Norway. NOTE: Almost all Lakehead University programs are designed with courses that require successful completion of a a Fall session prerequisite course. As a result, students who choose to begin their academic studies in the Winter session will find the course selection extremely limited and will be restricted to attending on a part-time basis until the following Fall academic session. Most study permits require that the applicant is a full-time student. Because of this, It is recommended that students apply for a September start.
