Course Description

Program Description This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares students to manage data, processes and deliverables from a life cycle perspective within the architecture/ engineering/construction/owner/operator (A/E/C/O/O) industry. Students focus on data-centric methods of practice in this innovative and evolving field in the context of regional, national and international developments. Utilizing a hands-on approach, students merge theoretical study with applied practice to develop a specialization in current BIM management techniques that support improvements in productivity across the construction and facilities industries. Students develop knowledge and skills using emerging technology coupled with industry standards to achieve competency in workflow management, information exchange, collaboration and coordination, and compliance with legal requirements, quality standards and operational needs. By leveraging existing experience with the tools and techniques for model creation, the program emphasizes the function and role of BIM principles, processes and operational requirements needed for effective and efficient life cycle management practices. Employment opportunities in the area of BIM management continue to grow nationally and internationally. Graduates may seek employment with public and private sector organizations within the construction and facilities industries.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a research-based and data-driven science that can be used to teach individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) a variety of new skills including social, play, self-help, language and academic skills. This highly specialized Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides students with a firm grounding in the principles of ABA; specifically in the application of these principles to Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) with children with ASD. The curriculum covers the characteristics of individuals with ASD, evidence-based practices in ABA, the professional code of ethics and the development and implementation of behavioural treatment plans. Students gain practical experience working with clients and ABA treatment teams. Graduates of the program work predominantly with children and career opportunities may include ASD treatment teams, school boards, community agencies and family settings
