Program Description Humber’s Advertising - Media Management graduate certificate program gives you the knowledge and skills to effectively research and analyze the marketplace and a target audience, and subsequently propose the best and most creative media solutions to meet a client or company’s advertising goals. Throughout the program, you will learn how to translate marketing objectives into focused media campaigns, assess the strength and weaknesses of different media types, analyze media data, and how to best buy and sell advertising time/space for both traditional (TV, radio, outdoor media, print) and emerging (all things digital) platforms. Upon graduation, you will have learned how to speak knowledgeably and persuasively in a media environment, and how to negotiate as buyers and sellers of media time and space. By developing client and customer communications skills and the ability to focus on the needs of your customers, you’ll build lasting relationships and add value to your organization. Finally, you’ll also build skills using industry specific research databases and software systems. With this comprehensive understanding of both the traditional and digital media landscape, you will hit the ground running in your new career in advertising media management. Gain hands-on industry experience with a 160-hour (minimum) work placement. Here you will have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world business environment. With our support, you’ll find your placement at any number of local, national or international advertising/media-related companies or brands in the Greater Toronto Area. Placements can be completed on a part-time basis throughout the academic year or full-time once classes finish. Our graduates find jobs on both the client and agency side. Hiring companies include local, national and international advertising agencies; media companies; marketing strategy agencies; and leading business and consumer brands. Upon completion of this program, you will have the opportunity to move into any number of media related roles including: Account co-ordinator/manager Media buyer/planner Digital strategist Programmatic campaign co-ordinator Social media co-ordinator/manager Broadcast buyer Media sales representative Brand manager Media researcher Note: If a student applies for conditional acceptance but later decides to take their IELTS/TOEFL, they will need to reapply and submit a new application.
