Course Description

Program Description Students in a combined degrees program work on two complimentary university degrees simultaneously. A combined degree is generally a 50-course program during which students complete the requirements for both degrees at the same time. When the student graduates, they will be awarded two bachelor degrees, one for each area of study. The bonus is that you complete a combined degrees program in less time than it would take to complete both degrees individually. Bachelor of Science - Kinesiology Kinesiology is the study of human movement through physical activity and the critical role it plays from both an individual and cultural perspective. It also helps us understand the mechanics of human motion. Our programs are designed to provide you with the opportunity to study the theoretical and practical applications of activity as a cultural form, as well as individual performance at all levels of involvement and all ages. You will also gain an understanding of movement through the integration of specialized knowledge found in topics like anatomy, biomechanics, culture, exercise physiology, leadership, media, motor control, race and ethnicity. You will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, as well as the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, with its indoor track, pool and climbing wall. Bachelor of Education - Physical Education The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education enables students to study and promote life-long physical activity involvement. Physical activity plays a major role in our lifestyle - from young to old we all participate in different physical activities. Kinesiology helps to understand these activities, the need for physical activity, as well as facets of motivation, history, anatomy, and psychology. As an Education major a student develops a strong knowledge base in the subject area they intend to teach. They also receive in-depth preparation in how to teach, including both general and subject area instructional methods.
