Course Description

Program Description As an electrical engineer, you will work on the development and manufacturing of electrical and electronics equipment. You will examine the fundamentals of physical science as well as more practical areas in the design and operation of industrial control systems, communication systems, electronic circuits, and the generation and distribution of electrical power. Specialized study awaits you in areas such as fibre optics, fuzzy controls, wireless communications, power systems, and power electronics. This program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), with an optional co-operative education component. During the first two years of the Electrical Engineering program, your studies will emphasize: Circuit Theory Control Systems Instrumentation Telecommunications Your final two years of study will advance your conceptual and design capabilities through a series of core courses, engineering design and a major project focused on a particular topic such as computer applications. NOTE: Almost all Lakehead University programs are designed with courses that require successful completion of a a Fall session prerequisite course. As a result, students who choose to begin their academic studies in the Winter session will find the course selection extremely limited and will be restricted to attending on a part-time basis until the following Fall academic session. Most study permits require that the applicant is a full-time student. Because of this, It is recommended that students apply for a September start.
