Course Description

Program Description The Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor is home to dedicated graduate students from around the world, who engage with faculty members to bring awareness to the changing and growing discipline of education. The Faculty of Education offers well established and growing graduate degree programs, including an international cohort MEd, a domestic MEd, and a PhD. The domestic MEd, which includes domestic and international students, offers a choice of three areas of specialization: Curriculum studies Educational administration Language acquisition, culture and society With the knowledge obtained from each concentration, our students can incorporate many different approaches directly into their own classrooms, workplaces, and future scholarly endeavours. This course-based program will enable you to examine philosophical orientations, conceptual frameworks, and research methodologies relevant to the study of policy, leadership and the theoretical and development aspects of curriculum in a Canadian and international context. The program objectives will be accomplished through the completion of nine courses, followed by the capstone course, the Final Project Seminar. This graduate program will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge to enhance your professional practice. Our Master of Education program is taught by a highly diverse faculty team that strives to enhance each student’s professional and scholarly growth. Our program is specially designed for those students interested in exploring and understanding issues of equity, diversity, and social justice. As this is a research degree, you will find yourself challenged and inspired throughout the entire course track of your program to be a knowledgeable producer and consumer of research literature in each concentration. As a mid-sized campus, we pride ourselves in our ability to offer our students a one-of-a-kind learning experience, with small to moderate class sizes and personal attention from each of our devoted faculty members.
