Course Description

Program Description This two-year Ontario College Diploma program prepares students to enter the veterinary technician profession by offering an authentic learning experience working alongside highly credentialed professionals in our on-campus veterinary medical facility and in our partnering facilities in the local community. This challenging and rewarding program offers quality academics and practical experiences, which provide a solid foundation for graduates who are entering various career paths within the exciting profession of veterinary technology. The veterinary technician is a vital member of the veterinary health care team who possess valuable knowledge and skills in a variety of areas including patient care, specimen collection, sample analysis, surgical assisting, anesthesia, radiography, and nutritional support. The program prepares students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to work in an ethical, competent, and professional manner in companion and /or large animal veterinary practices, animal shelters, biomedical facilities, zoos or wildlife facilities. This program is accredited by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians; certified by the Canadian Council on Animal Care; and is registered with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Graduates are eligible for registration by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians and by the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

students to work within the broader area of sport, particularly the management and business aspects of the industry. In three levels of study, the curriculum provides cross-disciplinary training related to: sport marketing; ticket sales; sport sponsorship; sport economics; sport finance; entrepreneurship; sport tourism; event planning and management; the sport bidding and hosting process; sport business in the social context; customer service; legal aspects of sport; sport governance; project management; community sport issues; and, sport management professional preparation. In-class work includes team work, case studies, role playing, optimal use of technology and a variety of practical assignments.
