Program Description Students in Cambrian College's Motive Power Technician - Service and Management program learn to diagnose and repair complex wiring systems, understand serial data communications, and perform quality repairs. Students will start at "ground zero" with basic work safety and an introduction to fasteners and hand/pneumatic tool identification and usage. Students will then move into a 50/50 split between "hands-on" and classroom training in the following areas: steering suspension and brakes, drivetrains, and engines. The Ministry and industry-driven focus of the program is electrical and electronics, which comprise 40% of all studies. Students looking for a challenge and practical in-shop training will enjoy working on current vehicles in the lab. Emissions systems, automatic transmissions, ABS brakes, air conditioning, computer applications, scan tools, lab scopes, and gas analyzers will be explored in depth.
